This fort was the seat of nawab of Bahawalpur, Sadeq Mohammed Khan I, for around fifteen years till it fell into British hands. throughout the tenure of nawab of Bahawalpur, the fort was properly preserved and restored from time to time. This fastness is that the largest and most magnificently sustained fort of Cholistan. it’s a sq. fort and every wall is 672 feet long, vertically ninety eight.4 feet high and total circumference of its walls is 4921.5 feet. The gate of fort is on its southern aspect and is reached by a winding ramp. Most of the bastions of fort gift geometric style created by burnt bricks. The robust fort standing over the semi desert is visible from miles around.

Hindu Rajput, Rai Jajja Bhati of Jaisalmer was the one WHO at the start designed a fort on this sight. The fort remained below the management of royal family of Jaisalmer till 1733 A.D, when, nawabs of Bahawalpur captured this fort. it had been then fully remodeled below the direction of the nawab. The fort was lost from the hands of Abbasis attributable to Bahawal Khan’s preoccupation at Shikarpur. In 1804 A.D, the fastness was bowled over by nawab Mubarik Khan.

There ar shrines of 4 pious Muslims close to Derawar Fort. The Derawar masjid having four minarets and 3 domes is precise duplicate of Moti masjid at Red Fort Dehli, and was in-built 1844 A.D.
